Our Approach

Our Approach

Sawyer Equestrian offers horseback riding instruction in a fun and relaxed environment. Our lesson horses are well trained and can teach the basics of riding through patterns and games at our beautiful 20 acre home in Hopkins SC. Boasting a covered arena, outdoor dressage arena, and a jumping field, students can ride and practice their skills rain or shine.

Our Story

Our Story

With over 30 years of experience, Dani Sawyer moved her successful business from Massachusetts to South Carolina and brought her best lesson horses to create Sawyer Equestrian. "Teaching has always been my passion and I am so fortunate to combine it with my love of horses!" Dani said. She dedicates her days to caring for and training horses and she enjoys sharing her knowledge of horse care and riding with her students. Dani plans each lesson to the goals of the rider and the strengths of her horses. She takes care to give formal instruction delivered with enthusiasm. Dani delights in seeing her students succeed.

Meet the Team

Sawyer Equestrian and Dani Sawyer own eight TWELVE! horses! Each horse has a different lesson to teach

Dani Sawyer

Owner, Manager, Instructor

Dani has always been passionate about horses. Growing up with horses in her backyard gave Dani a unique opportunity to learn from them and choose them as a lifelong love and career.

In 1996 she began taking more lessons and competing and training her own ponies and horses. By 2000, Dani had begun her own lesson program in that same backyard. From 2002-2006 Dani brought Plum and CJ to Cazenovia College and competed on the IHSA team and IDA team while earning her Bachelor's Degree in Equine Business Management. Upon graduation, she began teaching and training professionally alongside her full time job at the MSPCA at Nevins Farm. In 2010, Dani built her dream barn and opened Plum Grove Equestrian Center, LLC named after her horse Plum and ran a successful boarding, training, lessons, and sales barn for eight years.

In July 2018 Dani moved her horses and her program to Columbia, SC to be with her husband Matt Sawyer. She is excited to share her knowledge and bring riding lessons to Columbia!
